Dr. Prince Emmanuel Norman is a distinguished Sierra Leonean researcher in the field of agricultural science, with a particular focus on crop improvement and sustainable agricultural practices. His academic journey has seen him affiliated with several prominent institutions, including the National Agricultural Research Coordinating Council (NARCC) and Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), where he has contributed significantly to agricultural research since 2006. He currently serves as the Deputy Director General for Research, Technology and Innovation Development and Chief Research Officer, SLARI. This further emphasizes his commitment to addressing challenges in agricultural research, technology and innovation development.

Dr. Norman’s research has primarily centred around the genetic improvement of staple crops, particularly the white Guinea yam, cassava, sweet potato, cocoyam, cereals, etc., as well as agronomy, tissue culture, physiology, pathology, crop protection, etc. His work has been published in reputable journals, where he has explored various aspects of crop genetics, including trait selection, seed viability, phenotypic and molecular trait profiling, parentage analysis, identification of quantitative trait nucleotides, disease resistance, and cultivation technologies etc. He has published over 65 articles, mentored over 60 students, reviewed over 100 manuscripts for over 15 journal houses, among several other achievements.

With a robust academic background that includes affiliations with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Ghana, University of Sierra Leone, Njala University and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Dr. Prince Emmanuel Norman continues to be a pivotal figure in agricultural research, striving to enhance food security and promote sustainable farming practices in the region.
