About Me:
Dr. Paul Musa Lahai is a plant breeder and geneticist and holds a PhD in Crop Science from the Njala University. He holds a BSc. (Hons) in Biological Sciences (Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone); MPhil. (Entomology) (University of Ghana, Legon); and Master of Advanced Studies in Integrated Crop Management (MAS ICM) (University of Neuchatel, Switzerland).
Dr. Lahai is currently the Officer – In – Charge of the Kenema Forestry and Tree Crops Research Centre (KFTCRC) of SLARI with seven (7) years’ experience in leadership skills. He has over twelve (12) years of research experience in tree crops (Oil palm, Cocoa, Coffee and Cashew). Over the years, He participated in a short-term training programs in Ghana, where he learnt practical aspects of tree crop breeding like pollination, grafting, and budding of cocoa. Dr. Lahai has been involved in the development of research projects at SLARI aimed at poverty reduction and developing innovative ideas that enhance income generation of smallholder farmers that are into tree crop farming.
He actively participated in projects such as Smallholder Commercialization and Agribusiness Development Project (SCADeP) where they introduced some amount of oil palm germplasms from the Oil Palm Research Institute (OPRI) of Ghana, Agriculture for Development (A4D), Boosting Agriculture and Food Security (BAFS) and Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (AVDP).
