He began his career as a volunteer educator with Student Partnership Worldwide (Restless Development Organization), aiming to gain experience in his field. He serves as an Assistant Tutor at the Sulisha Institute of Management and Information Technology. Mr. Kanu also worked as a contract employee at the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) for several years, where he provided valuable services while advancing his studies.
In 2015, he was hired as an Information Technology and Communication Technician at SLARI, working within the Communication Unit to enhance his skills in Networking Design, Hardware and Software, server infrastructure, Data Management, Bioinformatics & Data Science and Cyber Security. He coordinates various technologies to achieve organizational goals and aspires to deepen his expertise in system administration.
