Mr. Paul Musa Lahai holds a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences, an MPhil in Entomology, and a Master of Advanced Studies in Integrated Crop Management (MAS ICM) from the University of Sierra Leone, the University of Ghana, and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), respectively. Currently, he serves as the Officer-in-Charge of the Kenema Forestry and Tree Crops Research Centre (KFTCRC) at SLARI.

Over the years, Mr. Lahai has participated in short-term training programs in Ghana, where he gained hands-on experience in tree crop breeding techniques such as pollination, grafting, and budding of cocoa. He has been involved in various development and research projects at SLARI aimed at poverty reduction and creating innovative solutions to enhance the income generation of smallholder farmers engaged in tree crop farming.

His active participation includes projects such as the Smallholder Commercialization and Agribusiness Development Project (SCADeP), Agriculture for Development (A4D), Boosting Agriculture and Food Security (BAFS), and Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (AVDP). Currently, he is a PhD candidate at Njala University, where he is researching the “Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Genetic Diversity in Cocoa and Coffee Germplasm Collections in Sierra Leone Using Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Markers.”
