Mr. Sayo Sesay holds a B. Sc. Hons. (Crop Science) at Njala University, Njala, Sierra Leone, M. Agric. (Plant Breeding) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, and currently pursuing a PhD (Agriculture) at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Tokyo, Japan. His current PhD research focuses on monitoring quinoa crop growth and yield prediction using remote sensing and machine learning approaches. Mr. Sesay works for the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), currently attached to the Rokupr Agricultural Research Centre (RARC), Rokupr, Kambia District. He has served SLARI for over a decade now with following research directions: (1) developing better selection methods for improving maize crop performance under marginal conditions; (2) developing and releasing high-yielding, nutrient enriched and stress-resilient maize germplasm sources for use in Sierra Leone; and (3) conducting high-throughput commercial field maize variety trials to assess grain yield potential and adaptations to different growing environments, and provide this information to growers and seed-men. Mr. Sayo Sesay is also passionate about teaching research results and techniques to stakeholders in the agricultural domain, including university students and technicians in private and public seed enterprises
