Miriam Ballay Fornah is a Research Officer (Nutrition and Dietetics) attached to the Kabala Horticultural Crop Research Center. She is an experienced nutritionist with a sound experience in processing and preservation on fruits and vegetables. Miriam also has experience in food demonstration for suckling mothers in 2012 – 2013. Miriam received her Bachelor of Science with honors in nutrition from Njala University, Sierra Leone in 2011 and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2017 from Njala University. Miriam also participated in Enhancing horticultural crops, income generation for smallholder farmers and export in Sierra Leone –Boosting Agriculture and food Security (BAFS) Project, EU-funded with value of 500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Euro) in Kabala, Sierra Leone. She participated in the field research and sensory evaluation different Irish potatoes genotypes in the Koinadugu and Falala districts. Previous research activities are:

  • Causes of infant mortality rate at the Eastern part of Freetown- Wellington (2006-2011).
  • Investigating the causes of infant mortality rate in Kabala, Koinadugu district (2015-2017).
