Alimamy Alie Kamara (Ph. D, M. Sc. & B. Sc.) is a Research Officer, specialized in Environment Science and Climate Resilient Agriculture. He has got his Ph. D. in Environmental Science degree from ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, his M.Sc. in Environmental Management and Quality Control, and B. Sc. in Environmental Science degrees both from Njala University, Sierra Leone. Furthermore, he has other Certificates on short training courses organized by both national and international organisations including “Advances in Simulation Modelling and Climate Research Towards Knowledge Based Agriculture”, Centre for Environment Science and Climate Resilient Agriculture, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi; “Statistics in Applied Climatology”, U K Meteorological Service, World Meteorological Organization, National Programme Coordination Unit, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security, Sierra Leone; “The Impact of Climate Change and Desertification on Agriculture and Food Security”, The League of Arab States and African Union (AU/SAFGRAD), Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, etc. Dr. Kamara joined the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) in 2009 as a Research Assistant in Environment before he proceeds for post graduate studies in Njala in 2010 and then in India in 2017. He returned to continue work with SLARI in 2022. Since then, he is working to contribute in providing technical guidance and support the development, implementation and mainstreaming of Climate Smart Agriculture technologies in Sierra Leone. Dr. Kamara’s passion to capacitate farmers, assist the government to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food and nutrition security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural sector, and to use the environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner urged him to join SLARI.
