Mr. Nazir A. Mahmood holds a B.Sc. first class honours in Agricultural Economics from Njala University College (USL) and M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics Reading University (UK). Mr. Mahmood’s research interest is in production economics, impact assessment, product value chains and Agricultural policy analysis. Since my employment at the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute, I have undertaken various Research on the above subjects. In collaboration with AfricaRice and CORAF key project impact and value chains studies has been conducted. Some Key research conducted include 1. Impact of the NERICA dessemination project using the average treatment effect. 2. Determinants and extent of adoption of improve Rice Varieties using probit and tobit models. 3. Cost benefit Analysis for the various rice cropping systems using using different budgeting methods. 4. Competitiveness of the Inland Valley Swamp in rice production using Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM).
