Bai-Bureh O’Bai Kamara is a research scientist specialized in Agronomy at the Magbosi Land, Water, and Environment Research Center (MLWERC), a key division of the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI). He got his Masters Degree in Agronomy from Njala University. His thesis work was on growth and yield performance of groundnuts (arachis hypogea l.) at different planting dates in the savannah grassland agro-ecology in Sierra Leone

 He has other Certificates on short training courses organized by both national and international organizations including National training course on the participatory approach of Handling and producing mutagenic rice and cassava at SLeSCA Lab Mile 91. Young Africans leading the way-Genome editing in Agricultural Biotechnology webinar series two (2) work shop conducted by African Union Development Agency (AUDA).

 His research focuses on the intersections of agriculture, land, and water management, with an emphasis on climate-smart agricultural practices. Kamara’s work aims to enhance the resilience of farming systems to the impacts of climate change, improve water resource Supporting capacity building through workshops, training sessions, and providing research opportunities to the next generation of scientists and agricultural professionals. management, and promote sustainable land use practices that boost food security in Sierra Leone.

In addition to his research role, Kamara is a part-time lecturer in the Agriculture Department of Central University Sierra Leone. Through his teaching, he equips students with practical knowledge and research-based insights into sustainable agriculture and environmental management. His commitment to education ensures that future agricultural professionals are prepared to address the complex challenges facing agriculture in the context of a changing climate.

Kamara’s dual roles in research and education enable him to bridge scientific research with real world agricultural practices, fostering innovation and resilience in Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector.

He is also an Alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) specialized in public policy and management.
